Our Story
Born in a garage, and shaped by years of travel and conversation, DOMA Coffee is a passion project fueled by a desire to do work that matters. DOMA has always been, and always will be, a place where great coffee is the foundation of every decision, where a culture of camaraderie and growth (and music, biking, cooking, reading and adventure) is championed by everyone who calls DOMA home and where we use our company for good in all the communities we are a part of.
DOMA is named after Terry and Rebecca’s two sons, Dominic and Marco. The logo with ‘The Man’ is a picture of Terry’s father at the beach in Coeur d’Alene in the 1940’s with the Playland Pier in the background. A close-knit family approach to how we do our work is at the core of DOMA Coffee Roasting Company.
COMMUNITY
As we’ve grown, the communities we are a part of have grown as well. While deeply rooted in the mountains, rivers, lakes and trails of Idaho that we call home, we recognize that we have an impact (for good or bad) on the communities and environments of all of our partners. We have a responsibility to be good citizens in the places we source green coffee from and the places our roasted coffee goes.
We do this on the sourcing side by paying fair prices for great product, working collaboratively over many years with producers, and prioritizing and incentivizing responsible farming practices. On the customer side, we partner with our accounts to support causes that strengthen their towns, enhance their trails, clean up their rivers and much more. Our accounts are in some of the most exciting places in the country, which makes it easy to turn our trips to visit into a nice blend of coffee support, community support, and adventure.
We are surrounded and supported by a global community of artists, thinkers, outdoor enthusiasts, adventurers, conservationists, and all-around rad people. Inspiration is never hard to come by at this place.
QUALITY
We’re passionate about coffee — and we’ve built a life around this passion. Roasting at DOMA combines science and craft. Each batch is methodically trialed, tested and recorded in order to create flavorful, consistent roasts. Our coffees are grown by people we know, trust and have developed long relationships with. Our team is made up of people with unbelievable abilities. The guy with the “rock” and “roll” tattoo on his fingers is also a Q grader. Our head roaster? Degree in chemistry. The education team, when they’re not training baristas to prepare great drinks, hold the highest levels of certification that the Specialty Coffee Association issues and are constantly learning and refining their craft. Quality is at the heart of the DOMA culture.
Do Good In The World
For me, the question has never been,"why do we do what we do?" It's always, why would you do it any other way?
