ORGANIC COFFEE

Organic Coffee is coffee that has been produced without the use of man-made pesticides or herbicides. It’s better for the workers picking the beans, the consumer and the environment. The definition of organic can include an emphasis on recycling, composting, soil health and protection of the environment.

Organic Certification requires that growers have their soil tested every year. The coffee must then be processed and roasted in an organic facility. All DOMA coffees labeled as organic undergo these steps.

FAIR TRADE

Fair Trade tries to create an equitable and fair partnership between producers and consumers of coffee. Farmers are guaranteed a minimum “fair trade price” for their coffee. Fair Trade also helps farmers establish credit, develop long term relationships with buyers and allows for investment in education, health care and economic independence.

SWISS WATER PROCESS

The SWISS WATER PROCESS is a 100% chemical free decaffeination process that results in great tasting decaf. Many other processes use chemical solvents, like methylene chloride, to decaffeinate coffee beans. Conversely, the SWISS WATER PROCESS uses only water when removing caffeine, producing water processed decaf coffee.

RAINFOREST ALLIANCE

The RAINFOREST ALLIANCE helps farmers bring their coffeelands up to the certification standards that protect wildland and wildlife as well as promote the just treatment of the workers and local community. The RAINFOREST ALLIANCE seal allows producers to distinguish their coffee, enter premium markets and command higher prices for their beans.
